The prison sentence given to the ex-wife of DOC Commissioner Paul Schnell has been upheld by the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Julie Myhre-Schnell, 65, pleaded guilty in 2025 to trying to kill their vulnerable adult son by putting crushed lorazepam into his feeding bag.

She was given a three-year prison sentence after she admitted to prosecutors that she tried to kill her son and “completely regretted” that he survived.
