Several residents at Shoreline Plaza say they have feared for their safety and complained to property management for years as police calls piled up before Wednesday’s mass shooting.

City data shows 438 police calls at Shoreline Plaza in the two years before Wednesday evening’s mass shooting. 911 callers reported dozens of disturbances and crisis responses, along with 38 assaults, 32 domestics, 13 people with weapons, 2 stabbings and 2 shootings between September 2, 2024, and September 2, 2026.

One of those shootings was a double homicide in late September, when Minneapolis police said a fight in the first-floor lobby turned deadly.
