An alleged cockfighting operation in Forest Lake has landed three people in jail after investigators discovered several dead and injured roosters on the property during an animal cruelty investigation.
According to court documents, Companion Animal Control agents responded to the Forest Lake home in November 2025 after two dogs recently impounded from the property showed signs inadequate care and extreme pain.
After obtaining a search warrant, authorities said they found multiple roosters housed separately on the property with their natural spurs removed. Investigators later found evidence of cockfighting, including leg ties, makeshift “boxing gloves,” medical supplies, training carpet and bloody transport cases.
In total, investigators found seven live chickens and four dead roosters, according to the criminal complaint.
