MINNEAPOLIS — Dolly Parton’s family announced Tuesday that the country music superstar died at age 80 after what her team described as a “brief battle with cancer.”

Tributes poured in from Parton’s family, friends, politicians and fans around the world. Flags were lowered to half-staff across the country, including in Minnesota, where Gov. Tim Walz ordered them to fly at half-staff through Sept. 1.
