After four years, the case against the teen accused of raping and murdering 10-year-old Lily Peters ended on Wednesday with a guilty plea and a life prison sentence.
Carson Peters-Berger pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide, as per an agreement, ABC affiliate WQOW reports.
He was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 resulting in great bodily harm, but those counts were dismissed and read in for sentencing.
On Wednesday, Judge Steven Gibbs sentenced Peters-Berger to life in prison with eligibility for extended supervision after 25 years. The now 18-year-old will be in his mid-40s when he is eligible, WQOW reports.
Judge Gibbs said he took into consideration the fact Peters-Berger was 10 years old when Peters was killed.
