MN Court of Appeals upholds sentence given to former wife of DOC Commissioner in the attempted murder of son

ST PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Court of Appeals upheld a sentence issued to the former wife of Minnesota's Corrections Commissioner, who pleaded guilty last year to the attempted murder of her disabled son.

Julie Louise Myhre-Schnell pleaded guilty last July to one count of attempted first-degree murder in the case. According to a criminal complaint, Myhre-Schnell admitted to mixing her anti-anxiety pills with water and pouring the solution into her 33-year-old son's feeding bag during a December 2023 visit to the group home where he lives.
