WASHINGTON — The Southeastern Conference on Thursday filed a federal lawsuit against Louisiana State University and head football coach Lane Kiffin, alleging the school recruited NFL players against league rules. 

The lawsuit, filed Sept. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, seeks to prevent LSU from allowing professional players to play for the Tigers during the 2026 college football season. The suit alleges that doing so violates the SEC's constitutional rights.
