WASHINGTON — Actor Tim Curry, who starred in numerous cult-classic films, has died, according to media outlets. He was 80.

The legendary actor is known for his role as the enigmatic Dr. Frank-N-Furter in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and as the terrifying clown Pennywise in the 1990 miniseries of Stephen King's "It."

Born April 19, 1946, Curry jumped into acting after graduating from the University of Birmingham with a combined degree in English and drama in 1968.
