HOUSTON — Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall Tuesday afternoon near the Texas-Louisiana border, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
The tropical storm landed around 2:20 p.m. near Johnson Bayou, Louisiana. It was expected to make landfall along the northwestern Gulf Coast shortly after 1 p.m. as tropical storm conditions spread across portions of the Upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts.
The National Hurricane Center says the storm is centered about 15 miles (25 kilometers) south-southeast of Port Arthur, Texas, and has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph).
